Meet Dr. Katie Griffith
I am thrilled to be back in Spokane, where I lived from 2010 to 2013 while attending Upper Columbia Academy. It was then that I came to love this wonderful community and area. It is exciting to be a dentist and now be contributing to making this a healthier, happier place for all!
As a dentist, I am dedicated to helping people achieve the goals they have for their smiles and showing them what is possible in modern dentistry.
Many people have fears about dental care, often as a result of prior experiences. My goal is showing these individuals that taking care of their oral health can be painless. That starts with listening to the person and encouraging them to talk with me about their expectations and concerns. I’m not judgmental and will meet each person where they are. We start from that point and work, together, to achieve the healthy smile they desire!
Education and Experience
A career in dentistry appealed to me at a young age. I was drawn to the individual care required and how much an impact a smile has on a person’s psychological, physical, and emotional wellbeing. I wanted to help people be happier and healthier, and to enjoy smiles they love.
I attended Union College, in Lincoln, Nebraska, where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science. Next came dental school, at the University of Nebraska School of Dentistry in Lincoln, where I obtained my Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
In practice, I take time to get to know each patient as an individual. I want to understand their needs, to learn about their life and interests, and to build a trusting relationship. Patients need to know that I am here to help them, in ways that work for their unique situations, and will always respect their wishes and concerns.
Professional Affiliations and Continuing Education
I am a member of the:
- American Dental Association
- Washington State Dental Association
- Spear Education.
Through these organizations I access opportunities to grow my knowledge and skills, and learn about new developments in dentistry.
I have enjoyed school, and the learning process, throughout my life. This has not changed since I completed my doctorate: there is always something new to study! Active continuing education (CE) keeps me current on evidence-based practices and what is possible in dentistry. This ensures I am offering treatment using techniques and materials best-suited to patients’ needs.
By attending lectures, seminars, meetings, and study clubs, along with studying the latest publications, I am constantly learning and evaluating new approaches and options. As a dentist, I strive to provide the best possible clinical outcomes and treatment experience. CE ensures my patients are receiving care that is comfortable, timely, and effective.
Beyond the Practice
I grew up in Kalispell, Montana and Auburn, Washington, attended high school in Spokane, and then lived in Lincoln, Nebraska for college and dental school.
Most of my family is here in the area and I’ve looked forward to moving back for eight years. Each time I came to visit I was impressed with the growth and improvements in the community. I’m so happy to be back in Spokane and hope to contribute to the improvement by bettering the lives of everyone for years to come!
Much of my free time is spent with my husband, Ethan, who is an orthopedic physical assistant. A Nebraska native, he has quickly adapted to the northwest and loves it as much as I do! When we’re not at work, we’re often fixing up our home, finding and attending community events, or taking care of our cat and two dogs.
I also love boating, skiing and snowboarding, trying new places to eat with Ethan, and playing with our pets. Exploring the northwest is one of my greatest joys, seeking out food, camping spots, and beautiful views!
